US President Donald Trump has reiterated his endorsement of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the eve of Israel’s national parliamentary election, calling on Israeli citizens to “vote for Bibi for PM” and finish their joint military campaign against Iran.
Trump Highlights Joint Military Actions Against Iran
In a detailed post on Truth Social, Trump praised Netanyahu as an “outstanding Warrior Prime Minister,” highlighting their close geopolitical alliance and recent joint security operations. Trump explicitly cited operations—including Operation Midnight Hammer and Operation Epic Fury—claiming that coordinated military actions and naval blockades in the Strait of Hormuz have crippled Iran’s economy, military, air force, and naval capacities.
”To the people of Israel… Bibi and I have had a great relationship in winning together,” Trump posted, urging voters to keep Netanyahu in power. “When you go to the Polls please remember that Bibi has been an outstanding Warrior Prime Minister!… Vote for Bibi Netanyahu for Prime Minister, we have to finish the job that we started!”
The renewed endorsement follows an earlier statement on October 18 where Trump praised Netanyahu as “strong, brave, and brilliant”, a support statement Netanyahu publicly welcomed on X.
Political Stakes and Pushback from Rivals
The high-profile endorsement comes as Israel prepares for Knesset elections on Tuesday, October 27, marking the nation’s first general vote since the October 7, 2023, attacks. Facing political headwinds over security lapses and economic strain, Netanyahu’s Likud party is locked in a tight race against former military chief Gadi Eisenkot.
Eisenkot pushed back against external interference during a campaign rally in Tel Aviv. While acknowledging his respect for the US President, Eisenkot emphasized:
”Israel is a democratic country: only Israelis can choose their leader.”
Recent opinion polls indicate a tight contest between the ruling coalition and opposition blocs, setting up a potentially decisive vote for the future leadership of the 120-seat Knesset.
