The Silver City of Kataka (Cuttack) celebrated Vijayadashami with immense grandeur, hosting its 36th annual Ravan Podi festival at the historic Lower Bali Yatra Ground.
The climax of the celebration featured the burning of a towering 80-foot Ravana effigy at midnight, symbolizing the eternal victory of good over evil and righteousness over unrighteousness.
Organized with extensive arrangements, the event drew over 10,000 spectators to the grounds. To ensure smooth execution and public safety, local municipal authorities and the Commissionerate Police instituted strict security measures.
These included a 100-meter barricaded safety perimeter surrounding the effigy, dedicated fire service units on standby, and multi-platoon police deployments for crowd control and traffic management across the city.
The grand spectacle, accompanied by a vibrant display of fireworks, marked the festive conclusion of Durga Puja in Kataka as the city transitions toward the traditional Visarjan Utsav (idol immersion procession).
