The Commissionerate Police has announced strict traffic restrictions across Bhubaneswar starting at 2:00 PM today to ensure the smooth conduct of the grand Durga idol immersion processions.
With festivities peaking across the capital city, processions organised by four major Bhasani committees—Saheed Nagar, Nayapalli, Chandrasekharpur, and Old Town—will traverse several key arterial roads, prompting widespread traffic management measures.
Six Designated Immersion Sites
To manage the eco-friendly and orderly disposal of idols, the Commissionerate Police has designated six official immersion locations across the city’s outskirts:
-
Two locations near the Kuakhai River (Palasuni side and Hanspal side).
-
Near the Daya River at Lingipur on Puri Road.
-
Near the Kuakhai River at Basuaghai on Tankapani Road.
-
Near Centurion University, close to the KITS campus on the Jatani side.
-
A temporary artificial site set up by Chandaka Gram Panchayat near NIT.
-
The Kusabhadra River and temporary locations under Balipatna police station limits, including a temporary pond at Ramchandrapur near the canal under Bhingarpur Gram Panchayat.
Commuters are strongly advised to plan their journeys ahead of time, avoid major procession corridors during peak hours, and follow real-time police advisories for a hassle-free travel experience.
