YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, who was detained by Delhi Police from his residence in Gurugram, was released late on Saturday night, an official said on Sunday.
Rathee had been taken into custody hours before a planned demonstration by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar. Police had refused permission for the gathering, citing law-and-order concerns, and deployed tens of thousands of personnel across the capital.
Thousands of people, including CJP organisers, student activists, and several opposition leaders, were detained on Saturday as authorities moved to prevent the protest from taking place.
