Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) has revised the expenditure limit for candidates contesting for the posts of councillors and corporator, chairperson and mayor in the upcoming civic body polls in Odisha.
According to a notification by the SEC, Rs 50,000 is the maximum limit of election expenses by a candidate for Councillor/Corporator post in NAC/Municipality/Municipal Corporation having a population up to 50,000.
Similarly, Rs 75,000 for Municipalities having a population between 50,000 to 1,00,000; Rs 1 lakh for Municipalities having a population above 1 lakh; and Rs 2 lakh for Municipal Corporations.
The maximum limit of election expenses by a candidate for Chairperson/Mayor post in NAC/Municipality/Municipal Corporation having a population up to 50,000 is Rs 2 lakh.
Similarly, Rs 3 lakh for Municipalities having a population between 50,000 to 1,00,000; Rs 5 lakh for Municipalities having a population above 1 lakh; and Rs 12 lakh for Municipal Corporations.
