Bhubaneswar: The counting of votes for the Odisha municipal elections 2022 will take place on Saturday amid tight security.
As the state is ready to declare the winners of councillor, chairperson and mayor posts, here are the key things you need to know:
> An elaborate security arrangement has been made across the state for the counting day, said the report citing SEC Secretary Rabindranath Sahu.
> A three-tier security arrangement has been made in the Odisha Municipal Elections in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Jatni and Choudwar for the counting of votes, Twin City Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi said.
> On the day, the votes of polling personnel, who exercised their franchise through election duty certificate, will be counted first. Following this, the counting of votes in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will begin.
> Two tables will be present in each Notified Area Council (NAC) for the counting of votes for the councillor and chairperson.
> Five tables will be present in each municipality for the counting of votes for the councillor and chairperson.
> A total of 12 tables will be there in each municipal corporation for the counting of votes for the councillor and Mayor.
> The results will be declared ward-wise
> For Mayor posts, the lead will be announced after each rounds
The polling was held amid some sporadic incidents of violence in isolated places of the state on Thursday.
The SEC ordered re-polling in ward number-8 under Umarkote NAC in Nabarangpur district on Friday due to wrong ballot paper for the post of chairperson, SEC AP Padhi had said on the polling day.
