Khurda: At least three persons were killed while nine others sustained injuries following a collision between a bus and truck on National Highway-16 at Belapada Chhak under Balugaon Police limits in Khurda.
According to sources, the mishap took place in the wee hours of Saturday.
A bus with 19 picnickers on board was returning from Maa Tarini shrine at Ghatagaon in Keonjhar when a truck slammed it from behind killing two on the spot and another in the hospital.
Soon after the incident, the rescue team immediately reached the spot and admitted the injured to Balugaon hospital.
While the exact cause behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that a foggy night could have impaired the visibility.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered and a probe has been launched, said sources.
