Excise Department achieved a major breakthrough by seizing 295 kilograms of ganja from a secret chamber inside an 18-wheeler truck during a raid at the Shulia area early Tuesday morning.
Officials intercepted the truck around 5 AM and discovered the contraband hidden in a specially designed chamber. The driver fled the scene, and authorities launched a manhunt to track him down. The seized ganja was measured and weighed in the presence of Executive Magistrate and Additional Tahsildar Dhananjay Karna.
The excise team, led by Kantamal Range Inspector Dillip Kumar Satapathy, carried out the operation with active participation from OIC Rahul Behera, IC Prasanna Jali, EC Sujit Sahu, Niranjan Mallik, Bijay Kumar Bagh, and Rajkishore Kanhar. Police and excise officials confirmed that a case numbered 57/2026–27 has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
Authorities stated that all aspects of the case are being probed, and legal steps are in progress to arrest the absconding driver.
