Odisha rescued 159 child labourers during 2025, Labour Minister Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia informed the Assembly.
He shared the figures while responding to questions on labour welfare and enforcement.
The minister said the state has registered 51.89 lakh construction workers under the Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board. In addition, 4,40,952 unorganised workers have been registered across different sectors.
Singkhuntia emphasised that the government continues to strengthen monitoring and enforcement to curb child labour. He noted that awareness campaigns, inspections, and rehabilitation measures remain active across districts.
The rescue of 159 child labourers highlights the ongoing challenge of child labour in Odisha. Officials said rescued children are being rehabilitated through welfare schemes, education support, and counselling.
