Tusura Excise Department carried out a major raid on July 9, 2026, at 8:30 AM, intercepting two pickup vans transporting ganja from Baliguda to Delhi.
Acting on prior intelligence, excise officials patrolled the Tusura–Deogaon route and stopped vehicles near Dangapathar and Paika Samara junctions.
Officials recovered 1.60 quintals of ganja from one van and 12 quintals from another vehicle bearing registration number OD 21B 3281. The contraband, packed in 24 cloth bags, carried an estimated market value exceeding ₹2 crore.
The operation was led by Tusura Excise Officer Srikant Panigrahi with support from Titlagarh Excise Inspector. The arrested individuals include Om Prakash from South Delhi, Vishal from Ludhiana, Ramesh from North West Delhi, and Jag Mallick from Baliguda in Kandhamal district. Authorities booked them under the NDPS Act and forwarded them to the Balangir court.
Mobile Unit Inspector Sushant Pradhan, Circle Inspector Jayadev Pradhan, Constable Ramansh Sadaangi, Mobile SI Rajkumar Behera, and other excise staff assisted in the raid. Tusura Excise ASI Kishore Chandra Bhoi and Constable Tilottam Nag also played key roles.
