The Sikar District Magistrate directed officials to prevent the untimely observance of Rath Yatra planned by Biswa Sanatan Dharma Seva Sansthan and Shri Khatu Shyam Mandal.
The order followed a letter from the Puri Collector and Deputy Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannatha Temple, who requested adherence to the traditional festival date.
District Magistrate Ashish Modi issued the directive on July 8, 2026, instructing the police superintendent and local authorities to ensure compliance. The communication stated that the proposed Ratha Yatra and related social media promotions did not align with established religious traditions and scriptures.
The Puri administration had earlier written to Rajasthan officials, emphasising that the Rath Yatra must follow the sacred calendar and customary observance. Acting on that request, the Sikar administration asked Khatu Shyam Mandal and Biswa Sanatan Dharma Seva Sansthan to suspend the event scheduled for July 10.
Officials confirmed that the decision aimed to uphold religious discipline and prevent deviation from the authentic Jagannath tradition. The Sikar Tehsildar also reached out to the organisers, urging them to respect the sanctity of the festival and follow the prescribed date.
The directive reinforces coordination between Odisha and Rajasthan authorities to maintain uniformity in the celebration of the Ratha Yatra across India.
