A remarkable example of coordinated emergency response was witnessed when the 108 Ambulance Service, the Police Administration, and the Health Department worked together to save the life of a critically injured fifth-grade student following a road accident in Krushnaprasad area of Puri district.
According to reports, Prabhupada Jena, a fifth-grade student from Patharakata village under Krushnaprasad Block in Puri district, met with an accident while returning home from school on his bicycle. During the accident, the bicycle’s handlebar pierced his abdomen, leaving him critically injured. Local residents immediately shifted him to Krushnaprasad Hospital. Considering the seriousness of his condition, doctors referred him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, for advanced medical treatment.
To ensure the patient received timely treatment, the Puri Police Administration created an approximately 80-kilometre-long Green Corridor from Krushnaprasad to Berhampur. This enabled the 108 Ambulance to transport the patient safely and without delay to MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
This incident once again demonstrates that effective coordination between the 108 Ambulance Service, the Police Administration, and the Health Department during medical emergencies, along with ensuring treatment within the ‘Golden Hour,’ can play a vital role in saving precious lives.
