Odisha has moved swiftly to accelerate road widening projects with a joint meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.
The meeting brought together top officials from the Energy and Works Departments to ensure seamless coordination for utility shifting and the timely completion of projects.
Singh Deo directed both departments to adhere to strict timelines and emphasised inter-departmental synergy to avoid delays. He underscored the importance of smooth execution so that public convenience remains unaffected during the works.
Harichandan assured full support from the Works Department, stressing that road widening must progress in tandem with utility shifting. He highlighted the government’s commitment to quality, safety, and compliance standards while ensuring efficiency.
Senior officials, including ACS Energy Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary Works Sanjay Kumar Singh, CMD OPTCL Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, CEOs of all four DISCOMs, and representatives from R&B and NHI participated in the meeting. They reiterated their commitment to coordinated execution, promising to deliver projects within the stipulated timeframe.
This initiative reflects the government’s focus on infrastructure development, aiming to enhance connectivity, reduce congestion, and improve road safety across Odisha.
