Actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub has clarified that he is not associated with Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film Chauhan, stating that his voice was used in the film’s teaser without his knowledge of its context.
The clarification comes after the teaser sparked discussion online over its opening dialogue and reports that Ayyub’s voice had been replaced in a later version.
In a statement shared on X on Tuesday night, the actor said he had dubbed a line months ago without being informed about the project or how the audio would eventually be used.
‘I am not part of the film in any capacity’
Ayyub said he recorded the dialogue in good faith because he knew the filmmakers personally.
“A few weeks back, a film teaser released with the opening line in my voice. I wish to put on record that I am not part of the film in any capacity. I was asked to dub a line without any reference a few months back. I did that in good faith without asking for more as I knew the makers personally,” he wrote.
The actor added that he objected after watching the teaser and understanding the context in which his voice had been used.
Voice removed after objection
According to Ayyub, he immediately contacted the filmmakers after the teaser’s release and requested that his voice be removed.
“As soon as the teaser was released and I saw the context in which it was used, I asked the filmmakers to remove my voice from the teaser as I have nothing to do with the film. After my strong objection, the makers removed my voice from the teaser fifteen days ago,” he said.
His statement comes amid online discussions surrounding the teaser’s dialogue, including the line, “Pathaanon se kehna, Chauhan aa raha hai.”
Actor distances himself from the project
Ayyub said his statement was intended to make his position clear as an artist.
He added that he would “never be a part of any such project,” while urging public attention to remain focused on issues affecting students across the country.
In the concluding part of his message, the actor expressed support for students participating in ongoing demonstrations, writing:
“Though this will clarify my position as an artist who would never be a part of any such project, our entire attention should be on the present situation of the country where our young, relentless students are on the streets putting up a brave fight. Kudos to their inspiring spirit. Jai Hind, Jai Samvidhan.”
