A shocking incident unfolded in Andarai village under Simulia police limits. Madhabananda Mohapatra allegedly attacked Basanta Kumar Mahapatra over a ₹14,000 loan dispute.
Basanta had lent the money five years ago. He visited Madhabananda’s house to request repayment. Madhabananda invited him inside and suddenly struck his leg with a sharp weapon.
Basanta collapsed and screamed for help. Neighbors rushed in and saved him from further harm. They admitted him to a nearby hospital for treatment.
In a fit of rage, Madhabananda reportedly set Basanta’s motorcycle on fire. The bike was completely destroyed before locals could intervene.
Basanta’s family filed a complaint at Simulia police station. They demanded immediate arrest and strict action against the accused.
Locals alleged Madhabananda deals in alcohol, cannabis, and drugs. Police are investigating these claims alongside the assault case.
