Police recovered the body of a young woman from a rented house in the Pahala area near Bhubaneswar, triggering shock and suspicion over the circumstances of her death.
The deceased hailed from Basudevpur in Bhadrak district and had been living alone in the rented house for several months. She earlier worked as an HR executive in a private company in Bhubaneswar but reportedly lost her job six months ago.
Locals informed police after noticing a foul smell from the house. Officers from Pahala Police Station reached the spot, recovered the body, and began an investigation. The woman’s identity was confirmed through documents found at the scene.
Police sources said she had been staying alone since losing her job and rarely interacted with neighbours. Investigators are examining whether the death resulted from suicide or foul play. Forensic experts inspected the site, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination.
Family members from Bhadrak have been informed. Police are verifying her recent activities, phone records, and visitors to the house. Officials said the cause of death will be determined after receiving the autopsy report.
