The Women’s Kabaddi World Cup has officially moved to Bangladesh, marking its third venue change in just five months.
The second edition of the tournament will now take place from November 15 to 25 at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.
Initially, organizers scheduled the event for Bihar in June. Later, they shifted it to Hyderabad’s Gachibowli Indoor Stadium for August. However, scheduling conflicts with the Pro Kabaddi League forced another postponement. As delays mounted, the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) turned to Bangladesh to ensure the tournament proceeds without further disruption.
This year, 14 countries will compete for the title: Argentina, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Germany, the Netherlands, Iran, Japan, Kenya, Nepal, Thailand, Uganda, Zanzibar, Poland, and India. The lineup promises intense matches and global representation.
The tournament returns after a 13-year gap. Patna hosted the inaugural edition in 2012, where India clinched the title. Iran, Japan, and Thailand followed in second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
Now that Dhaka is confirmed as host, the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup aims to regain momentum and expand its international reach.
