Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati underscored the essence of true success and the pivotal role of youth in nation-building during two significant events on Saturday.

Speaking at the second convocation ceremony of Dreams University in Tangi, Cuttack, the Governor asserted that genuine achievement lies not in positions, power, or wealth, but in integrity, compassion, humility, and service. “Becoming a good human being is the highest form of success,” he remarked, urging graduates to prioritise character alongside academic excellence.

In his address, Governor Kambhampati emphasised that knowledge without values remains incomplete. He called upon the graduates to integrate honesty, empathy, and responsibility into their personal and professional lives. Congratulating the students, he described the convocation as a moment of accomplishment, reflection, and new beginnings, marking the transition from guided education to independent responsibilities in professional and civic life.

The ceremony featured distinguished guests, including former Indian Foreign Secretary Dr. Lalit Mansingh as the chief guest. The Governor expressed delight at his presence and praised his contributions to India’s foreign policy and global standing. Honorary degrees were conferred upon Padma Shri recipients Tulasi Munda and Damayanti Beshra, whom the Governor lauded as inspiring symbols of service, education, social reform, and preservation of tribal culture and identity.

Highlighting the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Governor described it as a visionary step to prepare the youth for 21st-century challenges through multidisciplinary education, skill development, ethics, and holistic growth. He commended Dreams University for adopting NEP 2020 and its evolution from a single engineering program to a multifaceted institution. Encouraging lifelong learning, he urged graduates to face failures with courage, handle success with humility, and contribute their skills to a developed Odisha and India.

In a separate event at Lok Seva Bhawan’s New Abhisek Hall, Governor Kambhampati interacted with Odisha’s National Cadet Corps (NCC) contingent that participated in the 77th Republic Day Parade in New Delhi. He stressed that India’s journey towards a developed nation depends on the character, skills, and commitment of its youth, not just policies and plans. Welcoming the disciplined cadets, he hailed them as beacons of national pride and living promises of India’s future.

Referring to their parade participation, the Governor noted it symbolised their dedication, discipline, and commitment to national service. He highlighted the NCC motto ‘Unity and Discipline’ as lifelong guiding principles that foster character building, leadership, and a deep sense of social responsibility. In an era of rapid technological and social changes, he advised the youth to remain vigilant in thought and steadfast in values, positioning themselves as architects of change. The Governor engaged with the cadets on their aspirations, including defence services, government jobs, and higher education.

The program included speeches by Odisha NCC Directorate’s Deputy Director Commodore Vikram Singh and Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Sports and Youth Services Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav. Cultural performances added vibrancy to the occasion.
