Hours before the counting of votes for the West Bengal Assembly elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged irregularities in several constituencies, claiming deliberate power cuts and surveillance disruptions near strong rooms.

In a post shared on X, the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader urged party workers and citizens to remain alert and monitor developments closely throughout the night.

Allegations of Load-Shedding and CCTV Disruptions

Banerjee stated that reports from areas such as Serampore in Hooghly, Krishnanagar in Nadia, Ausgram in Burdwan, and Kolkata indicated that “load-shedding is being done in phases” and CCTV systems were being turned off.

She also claimed that vehicles were seen moving in and out of strong room areas, raising concerns about the safety of stored voting machines.

Call for Vigilance and Monitoring

The Chief Minister called upon party workers to stay vigilant, guard strong rooms, and immediately report any suspicious activity. She encouraged people to file formal complaints and demand access to CCTV footage if irregularities are suspected.

Banerjee further alleged that such activities were being carried out “at the behest of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),” intensifying the political tension ahead of the results.

Previous Complaints and Election Concerns

This is not the first time concerns have been raised during the election process. Earlier, the Election Commission of India received multiple complaints related to alleged EVM tampering during polling phases.

Reports indicated that dozens of complaints were filed from constituencies such as Falta, Magrahat, and Diamond Harbour, highlighting ongoing concerns about electoral transparency.

High-Stakes Electoral Battle

The West Bengal Assembly election results are being closely watched as the ruling TMC, led by Mamata Banerjee, faces a strong challenge from the BJP. With counting set to begin, both parties are maintaining heightened vigilance over the process.

As counting day approaches, allegations and counter-allegations have added to the charged political atmosphere in West Bengal. Authorities are expected to ensure strict monitoring and transparency to maintain confidence in the electoral process.
