Mumbai: The heavy rainfall in the city during the night between Sunday and Monday led to extensive waterlogging, hampering the start of the week for Mumbaikars.
Areas including Kanjurmarg, Kurla, Bhandup, Vile Parle, JVPD, Andheri, Sewri, Cotton Green, BKC, Chembur, Sakinaka, Kandivali, DN Nagar, Kings Circle, Juhu Circle, Irla, Sion, Goregaon, Chunabhatti, and others experienced submerged roads and railway tracks, along with water entering homes and shops.
The Andheri, Khar, and Milan subways were closed, while accidents were reported in different parts of the city, including a couple being rescued from a waterlogged subway in Malad and a van toppling near Azad Nagar metro station.
One senior citizen in Borivali’s Saibaba Nagar had a narrow escape after slipping into a submerged manhole, while Kurla faced extreme challenges with standing water reaching 2-3 feet in some areas.
Residents were compelled to protect their belongings as water seeped into their homes, causing disruptions for many who could not work remotely.
