A shocking crime rocked Mayurbhanj district on Saturday when police recovered the body of a missing Class 8 student from a plastic gunny bag near a bamboo grove in Karanjia.
The victim, identified as Manasi Bindhani (15) of Bansahi village, studied at Saraswati Vidya Mandir.
Reports said Manasi went missing on Friday evening while cooking behind her house. Her family searched nearby areas, including forests, but failed to trace her. They later lodged a complaint with the police.
On Saturday morning, locals noticed a suspicious gunny bag near a bamboo grove close to her house. They alerted police, who reached the spot and discovered the girl’s body inside. The discovery sent shockwaves through the locality.
Police launched a detailed investigation. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Navakrishna Nayak confirmed that a scientific team and sniffer dogs will collect evidence. Authorities are examining all possible angles to establish the motive and identify the culprits.
