An Associate Professor from the Humanities Department at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Sambalpur, has been suspended following serious allegations of habitual absenteeism and attending classes in an intoxicated state.
According to university sources, the professor was frequently absent from his scheduled lectures, and when present, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol—causing concern among students and fellow faculty members.
The accusations prompted the university to initiate an internal inquiry to verify the claims. Meanwhile, the professor has been placed under suspension, which will continue until the investigation is completed.
VSSUT authorities clarified that the suspension is part of the institution’s strict commitment to maintaining academic discipline and safeguarding the learning environment.
“Our university is committed to upholding educational standards and professional conduct. We are conducting a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure the integrity of the academic atmosphere,” said a VSSUT spokesperson.
The investigation is currently underway, and further updates are expected based on the findings. The university has assured fair action as per the inquiry’s outcome.
