Bhubaneswar witnessed a shocking incident when two families engaged in a violent clash inside the Chandaka police station.
The fight, sparked by a property dispute, left the station premises stained with blood and created chaos even in the presence of police officers.
The Chandaka Police Station has clarified that no stabbing occurred inside the premises during the incident reported on 21 March 2026. Full CCTV footage of the station has been verified, confirming that the situation involved a quarrel but no knife attack.
According to police, at 11:19 p.m., an injured man, Soumyaranjan Paltasingh, entered the station with his wife. He had bleeding injuries on his right hand sustained earlier in a village dispute. Within seconds, the second party also arrived. On seeing each other, both groups began arguing and engaged in pushing and pulling. Police staff intervened immediately and brought the situation under control within 30 seconds.
The dispute stems from a long-standing property conflict in the family of Pitabas Paltasingh, who has two wives and two sons, Susant and Soumyaranjan. Both have been fighting over property rights. The quarrel initially broke out in Daruthenga village before spilling into the police station.
Two FIRs were registered in connection with the incident. A total of 13 persons have been arrested under strict provisions of law, including sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
