Vikram Dev University’s Department of Sociology successfully hosted a two-day National Seminar on “Equity, Inclusivity, and Sustainability: Reconfiguring Development Practices in India” on March 22-23, 2025.
The event brought together esteemed scholars, policymakers, and students from across the nation to discuss and explore forward-thinking solutions for India’s development trajectory.
The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Devi Prasad Misra, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor/OSD of Vikram Dev University. In his address, he underlined the importance of integrating equity and sustainability into policymaking, emphasizing their role in fostering social justice and environmental stewardship.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Navaneeta Rath, who shed light on the thematic intersections of equity, inclusivity, and sustainability, offering both national and global perspectives. Prof. Rath’s speech provided a comprehensive foundation for the seminar’s discussions.
Other notable speakers included Prof. Bikram Keshari Mishra, who advocated for an indigenous approach to development, and Maheswar Chandra Naik, who highlighted the significance of equitable opportunities for nationwide progress.
The event was meticulously organized under the leadership of Dr. Sagarika Mishra, Head of the Department of Sociology. It concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Krusha Chetty, expressing gratitude to participants and stakeholders who contributed to its success.
