Dashandikul village in Bhadrak mourns the loss of Indian Army havildar Mrutyunjay Dash, who tragically died at an army camp in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
The mortal remains of the young havildar were brought to his hometown on Saturday morning.
Serving in the Indian Army at a camp in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur, Mrutyunjay reportedly took his own life by hanging on Thursday.
The news has sent shockwaves through his community. Mrutyunjay was well-known as a selfless and caring young man, loved by everyone in his village. His untimely demise has left the entire village grieving.
Amid heart-wrenching scenes, his body was paraded through the village in a funeral procession, before being laid to rest with full state honours at the local cremation ground. “He was a hero, both in service and spirit,” said one of the villagers.
Mrutyunjay, the only son of Sadanand Dash, is survived by his wife and a six-year-old daughter. His tragic death, however, leaves questions unanswered. The reasons behind his actions remain unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
