Vice President of India Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan paid floral tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at his birthplace in Cuttack on Thursday, marking Parakram Diwas, the birth anniversary of the legendary freedom fighter.

The Vice President arrived in Odisha earlier than scheduled, landing at Bhubaneswar Airport and proceeding directly to Cuttack. He was received with a Guard of Honour by Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, and other senior officials.

As part of the official programme, the Vice President, along with the Governor and the Chief Minister, offered tributes at the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and visited the Netaji Museum. Due to the high-level visit, the Netaji Memorial remained closed to the general public from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

During the visit, Vice President Radhakrishnan inaugurated a Philatelic Gallery at Netaji’s birthplace, highlighting India’s rich historical and cultural legacy through postal heritage. He also inaugurated the District Culture Bhawan in Cuttack, aimed at promoting regional art, culture, and heritage.

Elaborate security arrangements were made across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to ensure the smooth conduct of the Vice President’s engagements. Later in the day, he visited Lok Seva Bhawan for lunch before departing for Kolkata at 2:15 p.m.

Speaking on the occasion, Barabati-Cuttack MLA Sofia Firdous expressed pride in Netaji’s association with the city and reiterated the demand to declare his birthplace at Odia Bazaar a National Heritage Site.

Parakram Diwas is observed annually to commemorate the life, vision, and extraordinary courage of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, whose legacy continues to inspire generations across India.
