Six villagers suffered serious injuries after a violent clash erupted over a long-standing land dispute in Rayagada district’s Ambadala police station area.

The conflict unfolded in Paikamada Khola village under Muniguda block when nearly twenty people attacked Debaraj Panigrahi, Somanath Panigrahi, Krushnachandra Panigrahi, Tanu Panigrahi, Raghubir Karakaria, Keshab Karakaria, Keshapati Garadia, and Senapati Garadia. The attackers used sharp weapons and sticks, leaving six victims critically injured.

The victims ran to save their lives but sustained severe wounds. Some were admitted to Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital, while others received treatment at MKCG Medical College in Berhampur.

The land dispute had persisted for years. Authorities scheduled a demarcation of the disputed land yesterday, but officials failed to arrive. Both groups gathered at the site, and the absence of officials triggered heated arguments. One group launched a collective assault on the other, escalating the situation into a violent confrontation.

Three to four victims suffered head injuries, while others sustained wounds on their faces and bodies. Debaraj Panigrahi filed a written complaint at the Ambadala police station. Following the complaint, police began investigating the incident.

Ambadala IIC Kalpana Behera visited the village today and initiated inquiries. She assured that the attackers would be arrested soon. Police continue monitoring the tense atmosphere in the village to prevent further escalation.
