Bhubaneswar is witnessing a grand celebration this Dussehra as the popular Rasulgarh Durga Puja Committee unveils its stunning thematic pandal replicating Rome’s iconic Vatican City.
Known for pushing creative boundaries with massive architectural replicas, the committee has once again drawn massive crowds to the capital city.
Architectural Marvel & Artisan Craftsmanship
The grand Vatican City replica stands as a testament to intricate craftsmanship and engineering:
- Imposing Dimensions: The massive structure measures 125 feet wide and 80 feet high.
- Artisan Team: A specialized team of 30 to 40 artisans, masons, and carpenters from Kolkata, led by chief artisan Bidyut Jana, spent roughly two months constructing the landmark.
- Eco-Friendly & Diverse Materials: Organizers shared that the build utilizes a careful blend of foam, bamboo, fibre, plywood, sunpack sheets, and uniquely treated Rajasthani date palm leaves that were dried alongside traditional bamboo and thermocol.
Robust Crowd Control and Visitor Facilities
Given the immense popularity of Rasulgarh’s annual themes, organizers have put comprehensive safety and convenience measures in place:
- Surveillance: Over 40 CCTV cameras have been installed across the venue to monitor movement and ensure public safety.
- Parking & Accessibility: Four dedicated parking lots have been arranged to handle traffic. Additionally, special volunteers have been deployed specifically to assist senior citizens and physically challenged devotees in having a smooth darshan of the Goddess.
- Festive Attractions: Alongside the breathtaking pandal, visitors can enjoy a traditional Meena Bazaar, giant swings, and vibrant food stalls set up across the Rasulgarh puja ground.
A Tradition of Iconic Replicas
Rasulgarh has built a stellar reputation over the years for bringing global and national landmarks to Bhubaneswar. Past celebrated themes by the committee include London’s Royal Albert Hall (2019), Delhi’s magnificent Akshardham Temple, and Taiwan’s famous Buddha Temple, cementing its status as a must-visit destination during the festive season.
