London: UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that he is ‘very optimistic’ that the coronavirus lockdown will be removed soon.
Johnson said the government is taking a ‘cautious’ approach and added that with the reopening of schools set as the first step, greater flexibility of different households mixing will be introduced from the end of the March.
The shops and businesses are to be reopened in two stages from April 12 and then May.
The British premier said that the decision at each stage of lifting lockdown restrictions will be based on data. He admitted that there was conflicting points of view on the pace of reopening but added that the experts must review the impact on infection rates.
