Two young men lost their lives in a tragic road accident after a pickup van and a motorcycle collided head-on on the Titlagarh-Balangir main road in front of Chotu Maharaj Cinema Hall on Monday.

According to reports, the pickup van (OD03AE 5918), carrying several labourers from Luthurbandh to Phapsi village, was involved in the collision with a motorcycle (OD17W 5241) coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that both occupants of the motorcycle died on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Parameswar Bhoi (21) and Dhiraj Majhi (24), residents of Tulang village under Titlagarh police station limits.

A local journalist, Manoj Satpathy, who was passing through the area at the time of the accident, immediately informed the ambulance service and SDPO Yashobant Narayan Pradhan. Titlagarh police promptly reached the spot, seized the pickup van and the motorcycle, and shifted the bodies for further proceedings.

The bodies have been kept at the mortuary. Police said post-mortem will be conducted on Tuesday morning, after which the bodies will be handed over to the family members.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over Tulang village, with locals mourning the untimely demise of the two young men. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident.
