Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of six people in an accident at a construction site in Madanpur Rampur area of Odisha’s Kalahandi district.
In a statement shared on social media, the Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and announced financial assistance of ₹4 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for the next of kin of all the deceased victims.
The tragic incident occurred at an under-construction site in Gaud Karlakhunta village, where several workers reportedly died due to suspected asphyxiation inside a septic tank.
The announcement came shortly after reports of the mishap triggered shock and mourning across the state.
The six deceased persons in the tragic Kalahandi incident have been identified as:
- Nimai Charan Pal (Father: Gangadhar Pal)
- Akash Pal (Father: Nimai Charan Pal)
- Adal Majhi (Father: Bishnu Majhi)
- Baikuntha Jal (Father: Madhu Jal)
- Manoranjan Hati (Father: Dhansagar Hati)
- Chand Jal (Father: Baladev Jal)
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the local community, with residents mourning the sudden and tragic deaths.
