The Odisha Vigilance Department today arrested Sudhansu Khora, Branch Manager of the Koraput Central Co-operative (KCC) Bank’s Malkangiri branch for siphoning off government funds totalling Rs 1,08,75,000 — money meant to be credited from crop loan recoveries deposited by farmers across five Large Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPCS) in the district.
According to Vigilance officials, the embezzlement involved misappropriation of public money recovered from loanee farmers under various government-backed agricultural credit schemes.
Odisha Vigilance has registered two separate cases — Koraput Vigilance Police Station Case Nos. 4 and 5 dated 04.05.2026 — charging Khora under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, along with Sections 316(5) and 344 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2024. The accused is expected to be produced before the designated court later today.
Further details of the modus operandi and any possible accomplices are expected to emerge as the Vigilance probe intensifies.
