Bhubaneswar: Police here on Tuesday detained two transgenders at the Bhubaneswar Railway Station for allegedly smuggling ganja. However, the identities of the accused persons were not known immediately.
Acting on reliable inputs, a joint team of the Odisha Crime Branch and Railway Protection Force intercepted two transgenders and conducted a search of their bags. During the search, the police found 15 kg of ganja in the bags.
Following this, the two accused were detained and further investigation into the matter is underway.
Sources said the transgenders carrying the contraband from Beguniapada in Ganjam district were planning to go to Surat in Gandhidham Express.
The estimated price of the ganja is Rs 1.5 lakh, the official added.
