Angul: Two senior clerks in Angul district have been sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment in a bribery case.
The accused have been identified as Niranjan Dehury, Ex-Sr. Clerk (Retired) and Lambodar Behera, Sr. Clerk, both of Chhendipada Tahasil, Dist-Angul.
Dehury and Behera were charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act,1988 for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant for finalization of a mutation case and handing over RoR (Patta) after necessary correction, were convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Angul.
The court sentenced both the convicts Niranjan Dehury and Lambodar Behera to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 2 years and a fine.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the dismissal of Lambodar Behera from service and the stoppage of the pension of Niranjan Dehury following their conviction.
