Ranchi: At least two people were killed, and 20 others were injured after about 18 coaches of a train bound for Mumbai derailed in Jharkhand early this morning.
The two deceased have been identified as residents of Ajit Samal of Malgodown and Bikash Rao of Railway colony in Rourkela.
The Howrah-Mumbai Mail derailed near Badabamboo at around 3.45 am, and rescue and relief operations are on.
Of the 18 coaches that derailed, 16 were passenger coaches, one power car, and one pantry car, an official said.

SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS BY SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY ON DERAILMENT OF 12810 HOWRAH-MUMBAI MAIL Kolkata, 30th July 2024
Due to the derailment of 12810 Howrah-CSMT Mumbai Mail near Barabamboo station in Chakradharpur Division on 30.07.2024, the following special arrangements have been made by South Eastern Railway:
• A special bus service has been arranged for the transportation of passengers from the derailment spot
• Stranded passengers were carried to Chakradharpur station by a Relief Train
• Injured passengers were immediately shifted to Chakradharpur Railway Hospital and CHC Khutpani
• 02810 Chakradharpur-CSMT Mumbai Special (Relief) Train will leave Chakradharpur around 10.00 hrs with the passengers
• Ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 each has already been paid to four injured passengers. Grant of Ex-gratia for the rest injured passengers is under process.
