Sonepur: At least two persons were arrested by the Economic Offences Wing for allegedly siphoning off over Rs 5 crore from the bank account of Zilla Swasthya Samiti, National Health Mission (ZSS, NHM), Sonepur.
The arrestees have been identified as Rajkishore Nayak of Bhawanipatna and Ananta Charan Pradhan of Pipili.
According to reports, on April 4, the duo had allegedly diverted funds from the account of Zilla Swasthya Samiti, National Health Mission (ZSS, NHM), Sonepur by hacking the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) of the National Health Mission.
As per the investigation, Nayak entered into a criminal conspiracy with Ananta Charan Pradhan and others and generated an E-cheque amounting to Rs.5,01,50,000/- by hacking the portal of the NHM system i.e. PFMS.
Thereafter they manufactured a duplicate seal of ADMO and CDMO, Sonepur, put the same on the E-cheque, and thereafter placed that E-cheque at SBI, Sonepur for clearing. On April 7 an amount of Rs.5,01,50,000 was diverted to the account of M/s NATURALS, reports said.
During the investigation, the officials seized a mobile phone used for manufacturing E-cheque and other incriminating articles from their possession. Moreover, an amount of Rs.3.30 Crores out of the siphoned amount of Rs.5 Crore has been freeze so far, reports added.
Earlier on May 5 accused Samir Kumar Pati, who was the employee of M/s NATURALS was arrested and forwarded to the Court of SDJM, Sonepur.
