U.S. President Donald Trump announced a five-day hold on planned strikes against Iran, citing what he described as “very productive talks” aimed at easing tensions in the Gulf.
He said the pause would allow negotiators to continue discussions on ending hostilities.
Trump explained that the strikes, which targeted Iranian energy and power infrastructure, will remain suspended while talks progress. He emphasised that further action depends on the outcome of ongoing dialogue.
The announcement comes as the Hormuz crisis deepens, with global markets closely watching developments. Trump said the United States seeks a resolution that avoids escalation and protects regional stability. He added that the talks represent a step toward reducing hostilities and finding common ground.
