Deogarh district witnessed a horrific crime late Wednesday night when a man killed his wife, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter with a hammer following a family dispute.
The incident occurred in Gariapali village under the Kundheigola police station.
Police identified the accused as Ramesh Garia, aged 52. According to reports, Ramesh quarrelled with his wife, Gul Garia, 42, during the night. In a fit of rage, he attacked her with a hammer. His daughter-in-law, Lipi, 24, and granddaughter Ishani, 4, were also brutally assaulted when they tried to intervene. All three died on the spot.
The accused fled after committing the crime. His son lodged a complaint at the Kundheigola police station, prompting police to launch an investigation. Senior officials, including Deogarh SP Anil Kumar Mishra and SDPO Ramesh Mahana, visited the crime scene to assess the situation.
