Tragic Death at KIIT Varsity: Nepali Girl’s Suicide Sparks Protests, Boyfriend Detained

A Nepali student, Prakriti Lamsal, a third-year B-Tech student at KIIT University, was found dead in her hostel on Sunday.

It is suspected that a love affair may have led to her death. The police have detained Advik Srivastava, a third-year mechanical engineering student, in connection with the incident.

The university authorities have sent most students home to maintain calm on the campus. The police are investigating the incident and have seized mobile phones, laptops, and other documents. Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra stated that the situation is under control and the investigation is ongoing.

KIIT Public Relations Director Dr. Shradhanjali Nayak said that a Nepali student, a third-year B-Tech student, was found dead in the hostel yesterday. It is suspected that another student studying at KIIT was in a love affair with the student.

She said that the incident was immediately handed over to the police after it came to light. The police have arrested the student concerned and are investigating. However, due to the tension among the Nepali students studying in the institute, the institute authorities have reached an agreement with them. Keeping the situation in mind, the children have been sent to their homes, she said.

According to the information received, the name of the Nepali student who killed us is Prakriti Lamsal. The Commissionerate Police has arrested third-year mechanical engineering student Advik Srivastava in this incident. The police said that the family of the student who killed us had been informed about the incident. The accused student has been arrested. The arrested student is being interrogated further and further investigation into this murder incident is underway after observing the surrounding situation. On the other hand, there was a scuffle between Advik and Prakriti. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

After the incident came to light on Sunday evening, there was a stir among the Nepali students on Sunday night and Monday morning. However, the university authorities immediately informed them and advised them to go home and keep an eye on the situation.

On Monday, most of the students left the university. Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra said that the police have taken the entire incident into their own hands. The situation is under control and the police are investigating the incident.

The investigation process is being carried out properly as per the demands made by the students. Mobile phones, laptops and other documents have been seized. Steps have been taken to ensure that no evidence is destroyed. The DCP said that the police team has discussed the matter with both the students and the university authorities. A complete investigation into the incident is being carried out and all necessary steps are being taken.

Regarding the incident, the Registrar of KIIT University Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty said that the police were immediately informed after the student’s suicide was discovered. The police also took immediate steps and are investigating and have arrested a student. The police have restored peace on the university campus. There is no tension on the campus. Now the police are taking steps as per the law in the murder incident. So keep an eye on the situation. The children have been sent to their respective homes.
