A Nepali student, Prakriti Lamsal, a third-year B-Tech student at KIIT University, was found dead in her hostel on Sunday.
It is suspected that a love affair may have led to her death. The police have detained Advik Srivastava, a third-year mechanical engineering student, in connection with the incident.

KIIT Public Relations Director Dr. Shradhanjali Nayak said that a Nepali student, a third-year B-Tech student, was found dead in the hostel yesterday. It is suspected that another student studying at KIIT was in a love affair with the student.
She said that the incident was immediately handed over to the police after it came to light. The police have arrested the student concerned and are investigating. However, due to the tension among the Nepali students studying in the institute, the institute authorities have reached an agreement with them. Keeping the situation in mind, the children have been sent to their homes, she said.
