A shocking turn of events at the Danda Nacha event in Berhampur has left the community shaken. Jagadish Panigrahi, a member of the Belagaon Danda Nacha Committee, was brutally murdered during a violent altercation last night.
The incident unfolded in the Badabazar area when tensions during a ritual procession escalated. Trinath Panigrahi, the committee head, and his son, Pradeep Panigrahi, allegedly attacked Jagadish with a knife, inflicting fatal injuries to his throat and other parts of his body. Emergency responders rushed the victim to MKCG Hospital, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Both accused, Trinath and Pradeep, have been arrested, and police have initiated an investigation into the tragic incident. The shocking violence has cast a shadow over the ritual and left the local community mourning the loss of Jagadish Panigrahi.
