Security forces successfully eliminated a top Maoist leader, Bhaskar Rao alias Mailarapu Adellu, during an anti-Naxal operation in Bijapur district.

Rao, a prominent member of the Telangana State Committee of the CPI (Maoist) outfit, had a combined bounty of Rs 45 lakh on his head. His body was recovered on Friday alongside an AK-47 rifle, explosives, and other ammunition.

Rao was known for his strategic influence within the Maoist hierarchy, serving as Secretary of the Mancherial-Komarambheem (MKB) division and holding membership in the Special Zonal Committee (SZC) of the Telangana State Committee. His elimination is considered a significant breakthrough in India’s ongoing efforts to counter insurgency in the region.

Earlier on Thursday, another high-ranking Maoist leader, Gautam alias Sudhakar, was found dead during a security operation in the same district. Authorities continue their crackdown on Naxalite activities, focusing on neutralising key figures within these extremist groups.

Security personnel recovered additional arms and explosives from the encounter site, strengthening their assessment that the operation effectively disrupted insurgent activities in the region. Officials emphasise their commitment to maintaining stability and safeguarding civilians affected by Maoist conflicts.
