East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced a significant enhancement in rail connectivity for the city of Bhubaneswar.

Three major trains will soon originate from Bhubaneswar New Station, providing immense benefits to passengers in North Bhubaneswar and the adjacent areas.

The three trains are:

  • Bhubaneswar-Mumbai Konark Express
  • Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad Visakha Express
  • Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam Intercity Express

These trains will also have stoppages at Mancheswar Railway Station for two minutes each.

Benefits for Passengers

  • Accessibility for Students: The station will serve as a convenient hub for students studying in numerous engineering, medical, and other educational institutions located in North Bhubaneswar.
  • Connectivity to Hospitals: Passengers requiring medical travel will greatly benefit, as many hospitals are situated in this part of the city.
  • Ease of Travel for Residents: Residents will experience enhanced travel convenience and reduced congestion at Bhubaneswar Main Station.

Redevelopment Under Amrit Station Scheme

The redevelopment of Bhubaneswar New Station is proposed under the Amrit Station Scheme, with a focus on enhancing passenger amenities.

The major works being planned include:

  • Expansion and improvement of the circulating area
  • Provision of additional Foot Over Bridge (FOB)
  • Modern waiting rooms and toilets for enhanced passenger comfort
  • Improvement of existing platforms and illumination
  • Installation of coach watering facilities
  • Provision of lifts on all platforms
  • Upgrading the existing station building

These developments will make Bhubaneswar New Station a crucial hub catering to the travel needs of students, travelers, and residents of North Bhubaneswar and adjacent areas. The move will significantly enhance rail connectivity and ease the travel experience for many passengers.

“The date of implementation for these changes will be announced shortly,” East Coast Railway said.
