A CRPF commando from the CoBRA battalion sustained injuries in an IED blast during an anti-Maoist operation in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district.
The incident occurred in the Saranda forest under the Chotanagra police station limits, where security forces launched a joint operation against CPI (Maoists).
Superintendent of Police Amit Renu confirmed that the IED, planted by Maoists, exploded and injured jawan Manoj Kumar. He suffered minor injuries and is reported to be in stable condition.
Security forces intensified combing operations across the forest to flush out Maoist squads led by senior leader Misir Besra, who carries a bounty of ₹1 crore. The operation aims to dismantle the Maoist presence and restore peace in the district.
The blast highlights the continuing threat posed by Maoist insurgents in Jharkhand. Despite sustained efforts, Maoists remain active in remote forested areas, using IEDs and ambush tactics against security personnel.
