New Delhi: India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, shared a post on Instagram Stories on Sunday (August 4), celebrating tennis icon Novak Djokovic’s victory over Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in the gold medal match of the men’s singles at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, overcame the 2024 Wimbledon champion Alcaraz in straight sets, securing his first Olympic gold medal.
The victory, with scores of 7-6 (7/3), and 7-6 (7/2) against the 21-year-old Spaniard, allowed the 37-year-old Serbian legend to become the oldest player to win an Olympic gold in tennis.
This triumph in Paris also placed him among an elite group, becoming the fifth player after Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal, and Serena Williams to have won all four Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold.
Following Djokovic’s win, Surya posted a photo of the celebrated tennis star on Instagram with the caption, “This man is on fire! Well fought and so well deserved @djokernole.”
