Anugola district witnessed a tragic incident on Sunday when a 14‑year‑old schoolboy was swept away by strong currents of the Brahmani River while filming a social media reel.
The missing youth, identified as Subhranshu Pradhan, a Class 9 student from Bilinda village, reportedly slipped from a railway bridge near Jagannath Temple in Samal area under Kaniha block. He had gone with friends to record short video content for Instagram when he lost his footing and fell into the river.
His friends immediately raised an alarm as locals rushed to alert authorities. Personnel from Samal police station and Kaniha Fire Services launched a rescue operation, deploying divers and emergency responders. Despite a gruelling 12‑hour search, the boy remains untraced at the time of reporting. Intensive efforts are still underway to locate him.
