The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education under the Department of School and Mass Education has launched a two‑phase orientation workshop for newly recruited Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) in Sanskrit and Economics.
The program, held at IMAGE, Siripur, caters to 120 teachers serving in Government Higher Secondary Schools and Government Upgraded Higher Secondary Schools.
The inaugural session was graced by Director of Elementary Education Balamukunda Meena, UNICEF Field Office Chief Shri Prasanta Kumar Das, Director of Higher Secondary Education Niyati Patnaik, UNICEF Education Specialist Lalita Patnaik, Joint Director Sasmita Mali, Deputy Director C.H. Vijayalakshmi, and Deputy Director Jitendra Kumar Nayak.
Shri Meena urged teachers to focus on problem‑solving and guiding students toward responsible citizenship. Shri Das emphasised the role of teachers in steering higher secondary students away from vulnerable activities. Smt. Patnaik highlighted the importance of applying workshop learnings for holistic student development.
The workshop runs in two phases — July 20 to 24 and July 27 to 31 — covering NEP 2020, gender equality, ICT integration, Odisha Education Rules, SAMS and Shiksha Jyoti portals, POSH Act compliance, scholarship management, administrative duties, examination planning, and career counselling.
