In a thrilling encounter at the TATA Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, Match 11, the Mumbai Indians (MI) clinched an impressive eight-wicket victory over the UP Warriorz (UPW), catapulting them to the top of the points table.

Outstanding Performances

The match was marked by a sensational all-round performance from Natalie Sciver-Brunt, who was instrumental in MI’s victory. Sciver-Brunt’s bowling prowess saw her claim 3 wickets for 18 runs, restricting UPW to a total of 142/9. Her stellar contribution continued with the bat, as she scored an unbeaten 75 off just 44 balls, ensuring MI’s triumph with three overs to spare.

Hayley Matthews also played a significant role, scoring 59 runs off 50 balls and taking 1 wicket for 38 runs. Matthews’ partnership with Sciver-Brunt was pivotal in MI’s successful run chase.

Key Moments for UP Warriorz

UPW had a promising start with Grace Harris scoring a quickfire 45 off 26 balls. Despite this early momentum, a middle-order collapse triggered by MI’s leg-spinner Sanskriti Gupta left UPW struggling. Gupta’s exceptional bowling saw her take 2 wickets for 11 runs, dismantling UPW’s batting lineup.

Match Summary

The match commenced with UPW batting first, only to face an early setback with the dismissal of Kiran Navgire in the first over. Grace Harris and Vrinda Dinesh’s contributions helped UPW reach 62/1 after 6 overs. However, MI’s bowlers, led by Sciver-Brunt and Gupta, orchestrated a collapse, reducing UPW to 93/5 by the 12th over. Sciver-Brunt’s impressive spell saw her become the joint-highest wicket-taker of the season, with seven wickets.

In response, MI’s innings started cautiously but gained momentum as Sciver-Brunt and Matthews accelerated the scoring. MI reached their target in 17 overs, finishing at 143/2.

Brief Scores

Mumbai Indians: 143/2 in 17 overs (Natalie Sciver-Brunt 75*, Hayley Matthews 59)

UP Warriorz: 142/9 in 20 overs (Grace Harris 45, Vrinda Dinesh 33, Natalie Sciver-Brunt 3-18, Sanskriti Gupta 2-11)
