An unfortunate incident occurred during the Mahashivratri celebration at the Lingaraj Temple when a servitor fell while attempting to lift the Mahadeepa atop the temple.

The incident took place this evening, sending shockwaves among the thousands of devotees present.

According to sources, the servitor Jogendra Samarth (50), was climbing the temple wall to place the Mahadeepa at the pinnacle when he fell from approximately 10-15 feet. He sustained critical injuries and was promptly rushed to the hospital for treatment. The exact circumstances leading to the fall remain unclear.

Despite the mishap, the ritual was completed by another servitor who quickly stepped in and raised the Mahadeepa. The ceremony, which was scheduled to take place at 10 PM, was delayed by about 40 minutes due to the incident.

As the community waits for updates on the injured servitor’s condition, the temple authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the fall.

Also, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reached Capital Hospital to inquire about the condition and treatment of the injured servitor Jogendra Samarth.

The Chief Minister has also inquired about the health of the other injured servitors who are undergoing treatment.
