The Bisra Police have arrested a Block Account Manager on charges of allegedly misappropriating government funds amounting to over ₹46 lakh during his tenure at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Bisra.
The accused, identified as Siba Prasad Mallick, 37, a resident of Chhend, Rourkela, was apprehended following a report lodged by the Superintendent of CHC Bisra. The complaint alleged that large-scale financial irregularities occurred between 2022 and 2025 while Mallick served as the Block Account Manager.
According to police sources, the accused fraudulently transferred ₹46,08,341 from government accounts to multiple private bank accounts. To conceal the embezzlement, he allegedly manipulated official computer records and financial data.
During the investigation, police seized several incriminating items from the accused’s possession, including three mobile phones, bank documents, debit and credit cards, and cash amounting to ₹88,770. Additionally, foreign currency, gold weighing 33.426 grams, and 1.35 kilograms of silver were recovered.
Authorities also confiscated vehicles linked to the accused, which include a Maruti Wagon-R car, a TVS Jupiter scooter, and a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle.
Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the financial irregularities and to identify any possible accomplices involved in the case.
