Tallon Griekspoor produced another impressive comeback to win the Brussels ATP 250 title, defeating Jan-Lennard Struff 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a gripping final on Sunday.
The victory handed the Dutchman his fourth ATP Tour title and his first trophy of the season.
After dropping the opening set, Griekspoor once again demonstrated remarkable resilience. The Dutch star tightened his game in the second set, protecting his serve with authority and refusing to allow Struff any break-point opportunities.
The decisive moment arrived late in the third set when Griekspoor secured a crucial break at 4-4 before calmly serving out the match to complete another memorable turnaround. His powerful serving proved decisive throughout the contest as he struck 19 aces and won 84 percent of points behind his first serve.
The Brussels triumph marked Griekspoor’s third consecutive comeback victory of the tournament. En route to the title, he recovered from a set down against second seed Jiri Lehecka in the quarter-finals and third seed Francisco Cerundolo in the semi-finals.
For Struff, the final capped an impressive week that included notable victories over sixth seed Zizou Bergs and top seed Arthur Fils. However, the German was unable to halt Griekspoor’s charge, with the Dutchman improving his head-to-head record against Struff to 4-0.
The title is Griekspoor’s first since his Mallorca triumph and provides a timely boost as the ATP Tour season gathers momentum.
With confidence soaring after a series of dramatic comeback wins, the Dutchman leaves Brussels as one of the tour’s form players.
